Why car insurance for women costs less
In recent years there has been much discussion about the cost of womens car insurance and whether car insurance companies are discriminating against men.
Womens car insurance tends to be cheaper, particularly for young women, simply because female drivers are considered a lower risk by car insurance companies. This is because women have different driving habits to men.
Statistics show that although women drivers have a similar number of accidents to men, they tend to be less serious and the value of claims are much lower, this is reflected in the cost of womens car insurance. Source: guardian.co.uk
On the whole, women tend to drive more slowly, carefully and shorter distances than men, giving them less opportunity to be involved in a major accident.
The statistics gathered by car insurance companies are backed up by Government findings that over 88% of convictions for driving offences in the UK are for men and men are found responsible for 96% of all convictions for dangerous driving.
